Biography

Deborah Cattafesta received the B.Sc. degree in Biomedical Engineering and the M.Sc. degree in Biomedical Engineering (Telemedicine, Virtual Hospital, Advanced Prosthetics, and Medical Robotics) from the University of Chieti-Pescara, Italy, in 2023 and 2025, respectively.

She is currently a Ph.D. student at the Department of Science and Methods for Engineering at the University of Modena and Reggio Emilia, Italy. Her research interests include computer vision and machine learning approaches for surgical data science, with a focus on surgeon ergonomics and workload assessment during robot-assisted procedures through the analysis of posture, hand movements, and visual attention. She is also involved in the study of trustworthiness and ethical aspects of intelligent medical systems, particularly in evaluating and mitigating bias in datasets and foundation models for surgical applications .
